How much money do ticket brokers make

I started my own successful, yet small ticket broker agency before I was 22 self. Okay, this is a controversial industry I admit, so I am expecting some backlash on people who hate brokers. Most people though dont realize how often we lose money, provide our clients with great service, and help people get tickets for less than what ticketmaster charges.

This business is just like many other businesses in America. I take enormous risk, am not always profitable, do ridiculous amounts of research and do everythign legally. Ask me anything, about starting a buisness, the ticket industry, how I get my tickets, how you can get better tickets, how to get sold out tickets, Bash me, anything.

Do you feel guilty that you do this at all, or do you not care? What is your justification for doing something like this? There is a fine line, definetly. If I get a call from a client begging with me to help her get Taylor Swift tickets for her daughter cause there too expensive, of course I have a little guilt.

I try to help and get my clients the best deals they can. I have over clients who come back to my time and time again. However, we live in a free market society.

Ticket brokers are no different than people who buy and sell real estate, pawn shops, car salesman. Saving the customer money if he bought say straight from the LA Lakers. I feel there are a few major differences with real estate, but other than that I do get your points.

Thanks for the answer. I appreciate your openness to criticism. That being said, you're a glorified scalper and I kindly invite you to go fuck yourself. He has a point so don't hate. Broker is just another word for legal scalper. In my 35 years I have NEVER heard of a broker selling tickets cheaper than Ticketmaster, as stated in your intro. Completely false, take a look at stubhub, not all brokers on there but alot on there.

Especially in sports, tickets tend to be much less than a per game basis. Most concerts beside big names too. Brokers get killed all the time for events where demand goes down, or supply is huge, for example a good , not great artist in a huge arena. Well thank you, can we please have logical criticism from now on. Im not a broker who cheats, steals, or uses technology to get tickets at an unfair advatage. Those who do, in my opinion, should go fuck themselves.

Every ticket I get you could too. I just do my research and take the risk. I lose money and sell tickets to people for far less for what they could get from the box office, most specifically for sports teams. If you want to know how just ask. Also, if you are good at spotting undervalued assets and are comfortable with risk might I recommend trading equities or equity options? Much more profitable and you won't get shit about it from jerks like me on the internet.

I don't need to know how. I am fortunate in that I can afford to pay individuals such as yourself in the event I can't get the tickets I want. You actually justified your activities by saying that you are no different than a pawn shop owner.

Way to aim high! Yes, I mean I have been in that situation too. Playoff tickets are a hot commodity, brokers or no brokers. And fair enough I was just trying to give examples. Back to the questoins, biggest risks, definetly last season LA kings Stanley Cup run.

I made a huge bet they would make it far in the playoffs and got rewarded when they made it to the cup. Lots of losses in this industry.

If you ever want to become a broker get ready to lose and sweat on a daily basis. Biggest loss would have to be on either Sugar Bowl tickets a few years ago or Coldplay in an areana way to big for them.

Tickets are priced high to begin, demand goes down your out big time. If you want to get good last minute deals, know a broker.

You eat tickets sometimes and it sucks. First I am a big hockey fan, so that is my niche. I have tickts to a few teams and the LA just seemed like a worthwile bet, there was risk but the potential reward on what the cup tickets would be made it worthwile.

Season tickets are the key to brokers, not to mention your average fan. I assume you mean scalp outside the venue? If thats right, nope. Dont mess with that. That part of the industry is even more shady, big problem with fraud which has to get fixed. I don't see a problem with what you are doing fwiw. Buy low sell high is the way almost everything works. And yes your a smart man my friend. Varies, I started doing this right when I graduated college, small scale, started with season tickets to my favorite hockey team.

Saw the potential, kept growing. Now about 80 a year. I also help run another business Im in so it prbly could be more. Honestly do your research, seatgeek. Even buy an Ebook , there are plenty out there. Be prepared to lose money sometimes. There is a lot of risk. My advice, follow your favorite band, compare how much the fave value is compared to stubhub. Or buy season tickets for sports if your in a big city. GA shows in small arens. Not too expensive , and if they sell out boom.

Look at Ed Sheeran as an examples. Constantly following industry , researching presales, THE KEY , analyzing venue capacity, analyzing historical prices, etc.

Honestly, for me its more word of mouth. You can make a website which lots do. I have some ads around town but not much. Sell on SH, Ebay. Buying tickets for a good artist not great at a huge arena without researching.

Losing tickets is big. If they have a physical location your prbly fine. Most brokers are not going to rip you off if they are established , with good reps. Stubhub is also the best place to buy as they have a gurantee. Check out NATB association for certified brokers. Honestly buy an Ebook, there like 30 bucks but break down everything.

Just google Ticketbroker E BOOk and some will come up. Season tickets are the best for Sports. You get games cheaper than on a face value basis. Other than that its hard to get cheaper. Just use presales to get access to sold out events. I used to do this back during my college years and made a pretty decent profit during my few years.

I mainly bought for bigger type shows and sporting events. I agree with you about the GAdmin events. And yea GA Admin are where you can hit it big.

I only did this part time until 2 years ago had a full time job. Those years doing it part time making about Since then up to average say Years are different and Im small time.

More cash to use, more potential. I just dabbled in college as well. I mostly dealt with the kids I went to school with who were too lazy to get their own tix and big spenders who didn't know how to get the "up front" tix.

You wouldn't believe how much pull the gf's have on the boys buying tix. Haha yea I just started in my last year in college and kept growing it, reinvesting and kept growing. Its all about information man, and having the balls to put your money where your mouth is. And yes I cant count the number of times boyfriends have wanted tickets for their girlfriends.

I honestly should give them commissions. I wanted to bring something else up about why many people hate on the industry of ticket brokers. It seems to be the norm that people think we cheat, steal, bribe to get our seats. I am sure there are some brokers that have done this, and I am with the general public on this. It is wrong and should be illegal. Also not sure if people know, but a big issue now is the use of "bots" that some brokers use.

They go into ticketmaster and snatch up tickets. While they are going away because ticketmaster is making it harder and harder, they still are there. This should be illegal. It creates a unfair advantage and creates a monopoly for brokers. I AM WITH YOU, this is worng, and sometimes it seems I catch the wrath of peoples hate. AKA some of the posters here. I merely provide a service , get tickets that anyone in the general public could.

Brokers make money by knowing what you dont and taking risk. In all honesty, really not hating on you.

Like some other dope said its a free market blah blah blah. The real question is this, in the event you move to Philly can you please charge those motherfuckers 10 times the face value for their Eagles tickets? Your cooperation is appreciated. Not sure if you are still around but just curious, which events are the goldmines each year.. Ultra, Coachella, any festivals,.. Also, are there any of the pay presale code sites that are worth signing up for?

Free market economy is the centre of capitalism.
